Missions

Focusing on new opportunities and challenges that information and communication technologies offer today, Luxembourg is heading towards becoming a global ICT player. With the aim of strengthening its existing entities for fighting against cyber-attacks, the Council of Government approved the creation of two new governmental entities during a session held on 15th July 2011: the Luxembourgish Cyber Security Board and the Governmental Computer Emergency Response Team (GOVCERT.LU).

GOVCERT.LU acts at both national and international level to protect the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg against main cyber threats, to provide an attractive, secure and reliable environment for local businesses in Luxembourg and to protect the privacy and fundamental rights of people in Luxembourg.

In order to fulfil its missions, GOVCERT.LU is mandated to cover classified and non-classified infrastructures at different levels: to supply answer and coordination in case of incidents; to prevent and detect major incidents; to improve coordination among governmental actors within the scope of incident handling and response.
